This years hunt was so much fun. The weather was terrible opening weekend, it rained which is worse than snow, but we kept walking and hunting every chance we had. We camped and hunted a couple of miles from the house which is always nice.
We had so much fun with Clint, Trish, Paige, Wally, Joan and Jay along with Bryan and the boys. We were again amazed to watch Wally and Joan hike all over the mountain. Brock and Andrew were in awe and would laugh when a 4 wheeler with young kids would pass Wally who was hiking with a cane. Wally will be a legend in the Neilson family for this hunt alone.
After the opening weekend the weather settled down. Unfortunately Wally and Joan had left by the time the deer came out. As usual we saw hundreds of deer and had a blast.
Brock killed his first deer - a two point, when he was hunting with Bryan. One shot and I know Papa was smiling. I spared those reading this blog the pictures of Brock gutting his first deer but they are pretty funny. Andrew also killed his first deer - a spike. Yeah, it was little but judging by the smile on his face, it was a monster. He also killed it with one shot and was with Bryan at the time. I will never forget his phone call to me to tell me about it. His voice was still shaking with excitement.
As always the deer hunt was a time for family, being outdoors and we had a lot of fun. Can't wait for next year!
